About the developers

Famous for his transformation of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel into a trend-setting hotspot, Goodwin Gaw understands the cultural importance of preserving historic buildings in Los Angeles. In addition to maintaining an impressive portfolio that includes The Bradbury and Douglas Lofts, Gaw is the President of Downtown Properties which, in partnership with global investment bank Morgan Stanley, has undertaken the rejuvenation of The Rowan into a distinctive Loft Residential Community. Killifer Flammang Architects, experts in adaptive reuse restoration, oversaw the renovation of The Rowan with a strict adherence to the building’s historic character. Ornate cast-iron rosettes decorate the cornice-work, while glazed terra-cotta panels sheath the Beaux Arts-style facade. As a further testament to the grandeur of the past, the Carrara marble corridor walls and floors, along with the mahogany window sills and casements have all been carefully restored, and the nickel and silver-detailed Art Deco elevator doors have been preserved. Dodd Mitchell Design, the design force behind the sexy look of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, brings their savvy aesthetics and ingenuity to the interior common areas of The Rowan. An exclusive lounge on the 2nd floor boasts deconstructed art and décor, creating community and connection for the residents.
